- Limitation of liability for damages - the renter's liability for damages can be limited to the amount of the deposit. However, this is only valid if a report is presented by the traffic police. GENERAL
The renter or driver must have held a valid driving license for at least one year and be able to present a passport or identity card and a credit card. The minimum age is 21 years, otherwise an additional fee may be charged and the deposit amount may be increased.
The shortest rental period is 24 hours. The free period on return is 1 hour /if possible/. For a longer delay an extra day will be charged.
payment and deposit
When booking the vehicle, the renter can choose one of the following options:
- an advance payment of 20% of the total amount (via Paypal or credit card)
- pay the entire amount in advance by credit card or
- Pay the rental fee only when you pick up the vehicle.
If payment is made in advance, the remaining amount must be paid when picking up the vehicle.
We accept the following payment methods: cash, credit or debit card, Visa, Master, Maestro.
When picking up the car, the renter will be charged a deposit. For this, the renter needs a credit card in his or her name. The amount of the deposit depends on the vehicle group of the rented vehicle.
It is also possible to pay the deposit in cash or by debit card. In this case, however, the deposit amount may be higher.
The deposit amount will be blocked on your credit card at the start of the rental period and will be released again after the vehicle has been returned or inspected/examined.
INSURANCE
1. Zero liability: for 6-12 euros per day (depending on the vehicle class), the renter's liability in the event of damage or theft is completely avoided. This does not apply to damage underneath the vehicle and to missing parts. A police report must be presented.
Zero participation brings you the following advantages:

2. Limitation of Liability (included in the rental price)
Reduces the renter's liability up to the amount of the deposit. Only applies if a police report can be presented. If no zero-participation (including theft protection) is agreed, the renter is responsible for all damage to the rental car and is liable up to the full value of the vehicle; if no replacement car is provided (in the event of an accident or theft), the renter owes the amount for road assistance and the processing fee. In the case of the use of alcohol or other narcotics, and in the event of a violation of the law, the renter's responsibility cannot be limited or waived under any circumstances. The renter is responsible for missing parts and all damage underneath the car, to tires and rims and vehicle windows.
In the event of an accident or theft, the renter must obtain and present all necessary reports and documents from the police. Otherwise, he is liable up to the full value of the vehicle/insurance value of the vehicle.
The renter is fully liable for lost/stolen documents, audio systems, license plates, GPS, keys and other equipment. No insurance covers interior damage.
vehicle refueling
The renter receives the car with a full tank. Fuel consumption is at the renter's expense. If the vehicle is not fully fueled when returned, the missing fuel will be charged at 2 euros per liter.
one-way rentals and delivery
Delivery and collection of the car within Sofia costs 15 euros (one way). Upon request and prior agreement, the car can be delivered or collected to another city or neighboring countries.

working hours and “outside-hours fee”
CarRent's working hours are:
Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00.
If a car is delivered or picked up earlier or later, an additional delivery fee of 48 euros will be charged. This fee is due all day, including on all national holidays - Easter, Christmas (24th, 25th and 26th December) and New Year's Eve (31st December and 1st January).
trips abroad
Trips outside Bulgaria are only permitted upon request. For EU countries the fee is 90 euros, for NON-EU countries 100 euros per country. To prepare the documents we need a copy of the renter's passport/ID card and driver's license at least 3 days in advance. The deposit may increase.
car model and brand guarantee
Please note that CarRent cannot guarantee the model and make of the car. You will receive a similar car - the same size and power, the same number of doors and seats. If such a car is not available at the moment, you will receive a higher class car.
Cancellation/change of booking
A confirmed booking can be cancelled or changed free of charge at least 7 days before the start of the rental period. Otherwise, a fee will be charged - 20% of the rental price, but not less than one rental day. An advance payment will be refunded if an alternative car is not available. In case of non-collection of the booked vehicle/non-collection at the agreed time, the rental price already paid will be retained in full.
